AMATEUR KITCHEN

This appetizer is one of the first to go at any party. There’s something about the combination of sweetened bacon and crunchy chestnuts that makes it impossible to just grab one.

Makes: 40

Prep: 15 minutes

Bake: 35 minutes

Ingredients:

1 can Whole Water Chestnuts, sliced in half

3 tbsp Soy Sauce, reduced sodium

2 tbsp Brown Sugar, divided

1 lb Thick Cut Bacon

Toothpicks

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Rinse and drain water chestnuts and slice in half. In a bowl stir together soy sauce and 1 tbsp of brown sugar. Then place the halved water chestnuts into the bowl and let marinate for 10 minutes.

Slice bacon into thirds and wrap each slice of bacon around each water chestnut and secure with a toothpick. Place bacon wrapped water chestnut onto a baking sheet, lined with aluminum foil, and repeat the process until all the chestnuts are gone. Sprinkle the remaining brown sugar evenly over the bacon and place in the oven for 35 minutes, serve and enjoy!
