AMATEUR KITCHEN

Fall is not complete without this classic sweet treat!

Makes: 6
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 6 Apples (recommend: Granny Smith/Fugi Apples)
  • 6 Wooden Sticks
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 14 oz Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1/2 cup Light Corn Syrup
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Directions:
Stick the wooden sticks inside the middle of the apple, starting on the stem side.

In a 5qt sauce pan over medium-low heat add in the sugar, sweetened condensed milk, light corn syrup and salt. Using a candy thermometer stir consistently until the temperature reaches 248˚, about 35 minutes.

Once the caramel temperature is reached turn the heat off and stir in the vanilla extract. Working quickly but safely coat the apples with the caramel sauce and place on parchment paper to cool completely. Enjoy!

*If wanting to coat with sprinkles, roll caramel covered apple into a bowl immediately following the caramel coating.
