Cinco de Mayo, a widely popular Mexican holiday, is right around the corner. In the United States we like to celebrate this holiday just as much as our friends do down South. At most parties, or fiestas, you will find sombreros, burritos and of course TEQILA. Having the girls’ over for this annual celebration will leave the them talking about your 'fiesta' for the next 364 days. When planning for this special get together I like to start by deciding on a menu for both food and cocktails. While entertaining it’s a good idea to have a signature drink that welcomes your guests into your home. For this fiesta I will be serving the ever popular margarita or in this case, Sauza-ritas. Having a signature drink at your party will help you set a tone for the party along with keep your beverage bill in check as you’ll not have to purchase so many different liquors.

Sauza-Rita

Ingredients:

1 (12 oz) can Frozen Limeade

12 oz Sauza Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila

12 oz Light Beer

12 oz Water

Directions:

Pour all ingredients into a pitcher and stir to combine. Line a margarita glass with margarita salt, pour Sauza-Rita into the glass and enjoy responsibly.

Now that the cocktails are taken care of onward to what’s on the menu to eat. Tasting parties are always one of my top choices as the portions are small, allows for people to mingle and can be eaten in a few small bites. Let’s face it when the girls are out it’s not all about shoveling food into your face while visiting. Being that we are celebrating Cinco de Mayo I want to serve a classic that can fit into that tasting party idea. Quesadillas are a classic Mexican-American dish. It serves as either an appetizer or a main entree, can be filled with any type of ingredients which will help control those calories and can be cut to allow your guests to easily pick them up and enjoy. Try out one of my favorite flavor combinations for my quesadillas that I like to serve. Click here for recipe.

To end this fabulous Cinco de Mayo girls night I like to print the recipes I did for the fiesta on a card for my guest to bring home. This allows for them to make all the Sauza-ritas themselves along with the spicy quesadillas.
