Sloppy Joes are a quick dinner to get on the table that the whole family will love, especially the kiddos because it has a slightly sweet. We're making these Sloppy Joes a little healthier by using ground turkey, but you can always stick to the traditional ground beef.

Serves: 4
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 15 minutes

Ingredients:
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 lb Ground Italian Seasoned Turkey (can substitute with beef, chicken or pork)
1 tsp Cumin
1/2 Yellow Onion, chopped
1 Red Bell Pepper, seeded and chopped
1 Green Bell Pepper, seeded and chopped
2 Garlic Cloves, chopped
2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1 cup Ketchup
1/2+ cup Water
4 Hamburger Buns (optional: toasted)
Pickles (optional)

Directions:
In a large skillet over high heat add in the olive oil and ground turkey. Break the turkey up a bit and sprinkle in the cumin. Continue to stir and cook until the turkey is no longer pink.

Lower the heat to a medium and to the turkey mixture add in the onion and cook for 2 minutes or until the onions become translucent. Add in the red and green peppers and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Stir in the chopped garlic and cook for one more minute.

Lower the heat to low and to the turkey and vegetables stir in the brown sugar, ketchup and 1/2 cup of water, until well combined. Simmer for 5 minutes to allow for the flavors to come together. (Depending on how long you simmer the mixture more water may be needed to loosen the sloppy joes.)

Serve sloppy joes over hamburger buns, add a couple of pickles and enjoy!

*Optional: Combine all ingredients into a crock pot and cook at high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours.
